I can't believe it, I did everything right up until the mitered corners, "the most important part"! I am referring to the self binding receiving blanket - I goofed!!!
Instead of measuring the 90 degree on the fold I just did the 90 degree and it didn't turn out right!!! Why, because I didn't pay attention to the last and most important part of the instructions. I think if Jenny knew about how I mangled up that easy peasey self binding project she'd probably thump me! I ended up taking it all apart hoping I could fix it, but because I cut it incorrectly I ended up with 4 square holes instead of a mitered corner. How very stupid of me. Jenny gave such easy instructions and said that the method of cutting was important, I simply didn't listen close enough. I ended up just cutting the back the same size as the front and sewing it, my little receiving blanket is done but without a border.
Next one I try I will pay closer attention to the instructions and go slower and double checking all of the steps instead of thinking I could just zip through it and it would turn out all right.
Have you ever done something as silly as this? Watched or been given very easy and coherent instructions and then near the end, did something opposite to what you were supposed to?
I told you I was a ditz, a real screw up at times. I will begin another and this time I will listen closely and pay attention to what it is I was supposed to do.
I just finished reading Bonnie's blog post for today and once again another thief has stolen quilts from a Quilter, please if you have a moment go and read that post, it is a dreadful theft again! I know I am not a proficient quilter, but if one of my quilts or several I was transporting were stolen from me I too would be devastated. I cannot imagine what Patsy is feeling! Why would anyone want to steal anothers work? Maybe because the thief didn't find what they imagined to be anything of value they took the quilts to show the person they were robbing that they were p.o'd about there not being anything of value in her car for them to pawn or sell for money! Thank heavens she has pictures and those of us within the entire Quilting Community can keep our eyes on the lookout for any of these pieces which might show up within our circles.
We quilters should be allowed to post a notice on our locked cases or cars - open my car the wrong way and everything in it will disintegrate....all right a bit drastic, but what if anything can be done to avoid that? When your traveling and you stop you can't drag everything inside with you - like stopping for a sandwich, or a pit stop! It a cruel deed to rob anything from any one.
I'm off to shower and change and get myself over to my neighbor who I will be companioning for the afternoon.
While there this afternoon, I will be giving thought as to what it is I wish to GIVEAWAY this month, I certainly have lots to choose from. So please stay tuned to discover what I have to giveaway.
Thank you so very much for sharing some of your time with me this afternoon, and no matter whatever your doing, or wherever you are in this world we live in, have a wonderful day and a pleasant evening and stay safe.

A Great Day for Visiting Other Quilt Bloggers
Good Afternoon Everyone and welcome to March 2nd.
Hmmmmm I wonder if Ms. Spring is getting any closer?
Ole man winter sure doesn't give up the ghost easy does he? I sincerely hope all of you who live down south were safe from harm and those horrendous tornadoes? These past few years have really seen nasty and weird weather patterns.
WHY is it that weather cannot emulate quilting? Find a pleasing pattern and get to it? Like sunny and warm?
After snow shoveling yesterday I really needed a rest, so came in and with a wonderful cup of coffee with a drop of brandy in it I sat down to catch up on reading my favorite Quilting Bloggers, whose talents and skill always keep me in awe of them!
Have you read Bonnie Hunters' blog today? Have you seen her latest quilt, Winston Ways? If you have time, spend some of it with Bonnie today, your going to love this beautiful quilt, it sparkles, and to me sounds like Jazz, so great.
Somewhere while surfing yesterday afternoon, and I cannot remember how I stumbled onto to it, I came across a new to me Missouri Star Quilt Co. video tutorial, wow, Jenny always makes everything easy and fun! This one is no exception.
Certainly this video was just waiting for me to go along and watch it because coincidentally it goes well with the best Birthday Gift ever! My son informed me that I am to become a granny. A new tiny bundle for me to cuddle and coo over.
Don't newborns smell so sweet?
Sew a baby receiving blanket that is self binding, is the ticket for me, the visual learner. What wonderful birthday gifts I received would you not agree?? Thanks to Jenny making this easy and fun, telling us that in 10 minutes you can actually make and finish a self bound receiving blanket! If you have some time today why not give it a look see. Probably you already knew about this method, however, I didn't and to me it is a boon gift to have found.
ALSO in reading Sew We Quilt Stash Manicure Blog today you will discover a new Ruler and why this new Ruler has become somewhat important to a very special Quilter named Giles from his blog Touch and Sew! Being introduced to Giles today is a beautiful surprise, Not only do we meet a very special man who quilts, but has a gift to give us. Insight! If you make time, go and visit with Giles, he is certainly an inspiration.
That is it for me today, I am going to try my luck with the self binding receiving blanket, I simply cannot resist trying it out even though lots of blocks are awaiting my putting them together, I just have to divert today, I just have to!
Thank you for sticking with me on this 2nd day of March, and it means much as one year ago my beloved Mitzji dawg passed and I still miss her and often feel her with me when I am feeling lonely and down. So your company goes a long way in cheering me up.
Have a happy day today no matter where you live or where you travel, friends always await you with their loving smiles.

March 1st Has Arrived with a Loud Roar!
Well March is not timidly coming in like a lamb, no siree, it has come roaring in and brought that nasty white stuff with it. It has been snowing here since 7 o'clock last night and hasn't let up and isn't showing any signs of letting up yet either!
Today I will just have to be content to celebrate the big 66 on my own here indoors and wait until another day when the weather is much better and easier for travel before I get to go out and celebrate.
Look, my neighbor has already begun to shovel and I am making ready to go out and do some of the same!
My birthday present, Elle and I have been apart for several days, with just a bit of sporadic sewing because I have been far too occupied with many other facets of life in Seeley's Bay. After shoveling all that white stuff again I will join up with Elle and we shall celebrate together doing what we love most, piecing.....hooray!!
Monday evening it was pot luck Frost Fest meeting.
Tuesday morning a decided to make myself feel a bit better by having a perm and a cut, now that made me feel a bit spiffy, then in the evening off to a Lions Meeting with a light meal, yesterday morning some much desired time with Elle and I managed two more large blocks of my string/cube blocks and a heap of the tiny 6" blocks which go into the large 9 patch, ready to be put together! See, what do you think?
Last night a Chamber of Commerce Meeting with the most scrumptious of refreshments, the tables which held the food were so pretty and set up so very nice and appealing and made the foods on it actually look exotic! Trays of fresh fruit and yogurt dip, platters of raw veggies with creamed spicy dip, trays of four different cheeses, barbecued chicken k-bobs, pulled pork sliders, wonderful sliced french loaf bread with thinly sliced prosciutto and ham and some other deli meats I didn't get close to, brochette, and salsa dips, and the nicest fruit punch to wash it all down, or fresh tea or coffee. Now that is the kind of meeting you want to attend over and over again.
Tonight it will be left overs and relaxing waiting for this current snow storm to abate while catching up with all of my favorite quilting bloggers. Don't you just love the internet and the connections to others who are so skilled and talented in quilting? I learn so very much from these proficient and talented people.
I ordered Elle some extra notions. I only have to drive into the City to pick them up, but I bought the much desired 1/4" foot with a fabric guide, an open toe darning foot for free motion and a couple of packages of Husqvarna bobbins. All truly needed, don't you think? I also made inquiries about classes on this machine to learn all of its special features and how to go about making use of them. Now all I need is a sewing table that fits onto it to give me that wonderful large sewing surface. This new machine is much taller and longer than my basic Janome was, so because I am so short and the table not what you would call low enough I need to revamp this situation. My sewing table has metal legs, not good to cut down so a wooden table is in my future too.
To those of you who are still awaiting parcels from me, these are in the mail, so please keep your eyes on your mail box.
Thanks for stopping by today and visiting with me, I sincerely wish you a great day no matter where you are and if your live in my snowy region of the province take care driving it is so messy and slippery out there.
Celebrate the happiness that friends are always giving. Make every day a holiday and celebrate just living! ~Amanda Bradley

I think sashing will be in order because I simply do not like the look of it as it is laid out now! I think it look cluttered, but until I see the whole top I won't know for sure. BUT, I can make up my mind about that when all of the blocks are finished. Last night a Chamber of Commerce Meeting with the most scrumptious of refreshments, the tables which held the food were so pretty and set up so very nice and appealing and made the foods on it actually look exotic!
